Nutrient Film Technique

In an NFT system, well-established plants are placed onto the MultiDuct trays. Nutrient solution is continuously pumped from the central reservoir and flows over the bare roots of the plants, which are positioned in channels above the tray. This thin film of nutrient solution is delivered across the roots in a controlled, steady manner. The roots absorb the nutrients and water they require, while any unused solution drains down the tray and flows back into the tank for recirculation, ensuring minimal waste.

Unique Design

The unique design of the system ensures that plants receive just the right amount of nutrients and moisture, with no risk of overwatering or underfeeding. As the plants' roots are not submerged in water, there is also no build-up of salts around the roots, which helps promote healthier root systems and prevent nutrient lockout.

Additionally, the system requires very little growing media, greatly reducing the risk of disease transmission (we recommend using Rockwool Cubes or such as the Hugo or Big Daddy). With fewer opportunities for pests or pathogens to hide, the MultiDuct system creates a cleaner, more efficient environment for plant growth.

• Use Spreader Mat – Each MultiDuct tray is supplied with a Spreader Mat, which helps to distribute the nutrient solution evenly across the base of the tray, ensuring optimal root growth and nutrient absorption. Be sure to install the Spreader Mat in the tray before planting.
• Ensure Plants Are Well Rooted – It’s important to transplant well-established plants into the MultiDuct system. Wait until plants have developed a healthy network of white roots extending beyond the propagation media. This ensures they can quickly take advantage of the constant flow of nutrients once added to the NFT system.
