Root Nurse Fabric Plant Pots

Root Nurse Fabric Pots are a great eco-friendly alternative to standard plastic pots and are suitable for any style of growing.

Environmentally Friendly.

All Root Nurse Fabric Pots are environmentally and economically friendly. These fabric pots have been manufactured from recycled plastic bottles and fibres while also contributing to saving the environment by not using harmful materials. All Root Nurse styles are a great eco-friendly alternative to standard plastic pots.

Superior Drainage and Aeration.

The fabric pots from Root Nurse achieve superior drainage and aeration by air pruning the plants’ roots. This allows them to form multi-branched roots, making stronger and more efficient root systems, and alleviating the problem of root-circling, which is often found when using traditional plastic pots. The lightweight fabric material promotes aeration which allows the roots to become stronger, and results in stronger plants.

Reusable and Biodegradable

Each root pouch is designed to last for roughly three years, while also being biodegradable. The manufacture of biodegradable products results in far less environmental pollution. When Root Nurse pots break down, they do so into harmless, non-toxic elements.

Practical

Root Nurse Fabric Pots are also practical because each style comes in a variety of sizes, and suits almost all types and sizes of plant. The sizes are available from 1 litre, all the way up to 76 litres.

How are fabric pots better than plastic pots?

Fabric pots are superior to plastic pots in a number of ways:

1. The roots can breathe better due to the increased availability of oxygen; The porous fabric membrane allows air in much easier than solid plastic. This can reduce the likelihood of overwatering and can also lead to faster wet/dry cycles - especially good for Coco Coir and Coir Mix mediums such as 60/40 and 70/30.

2. Air pruning the roots; when roots hit the inside wall of a traditional plastic pot, they'll simply turn in the most convenient direction and keep growing, causing circling and tangling. This can suffocate and restrict the root zone, slowing growth and increasing the risk of disease. When roots reach the wall of a fabric pot, they'll try to grow through it and soon find the outside air. This will cause the root to self-prune and stop growing in that direction, reorganising growth from further inside the pot which leads to increased branching and fuller overall root growth.

3. Easier to handle. As well as being washable and reusable (simply put on a gentle wash such as a 'wool cycle'), they're much easier to transport and come with convenient handles, making them easier to maneuver when full. There are also no holes at the bottom of the pot, removing much of the mess that comes with filling, moving and watering plastic pots.
